About this item.
An original Pac-Man upright as Midway built it in 1980 under licence from Namco: the yellow cabinet, blue marquee, single four-way joystick and the CRT monitor that made it the most-played arcade game of its era. This is a used original, not a multicade; a specialist can send current photos of this exact machine.
What has been done to this unit
The motherboard and the monitor have both been serviced and the game plays as it should. The board runs the original speed chip, so the game runs at its factory pace; a faster chip can be fitted on request before dispatch. The control panel was stripped to bare metal, powder-coated and fitted with a new control panel overlay from Phoenix Arcade, and the joystick has a new centering grommet. The marquee is new, the monitor bezel is original, and the T-molding has been replaced with new orange trim to match the factory finish.
The cabinet shows the bumps and bruises you would expect of a machine approaching fifty years old, all of them visible in the photo set. Light spots that appear on the screen in some photographs are a camera artefact from photographing a CRT, not a fault in the monitor.
Original or multicade?
An original carries the period Namco/Midway board and cabinet, which is what collectors pay for. If you want sixty titles in one cabinet instead, see the Pac-Man multicade upright, which is a new cabinet with Pac-Man artwork running emulated games. Our Pac-Man arcade machine guide explains the differences and current prices.
